I have good news, though. After realizing that my conclusion might be slightly exaggerated, I talked with one of our instructors and she let me know that there are ways to reduce the damaging effects of blow drying, curling and flat ironing. Of course, giving your hair a break from the heated tools is always a good idea, but for many women that isn’t always an option.

• Info about the way to use your favorite styling tool not only to be less harmful to your hair but to get the best styling results

Perfectly Messy!

This is a great look for the everyday; comfortable, simple and stylish all rolled into one. Below are the steps to take to achieve the messy braid:

• If you can, don’t have freshly washed hair when attempting a messy braid. Hair has more texture and will hold any style better when hair hasn’t been washed for a day or so.
• Sprinkle a small amount of Pure Abundence Hair Potion (pictured below) into your hands and rub them together. The powder will turn into a liquid-like substance. Then scrunch it throughout your hair, making sure to apply all over.
• Next, take a dime-sized amount of Control Paste (pictured below) in your hands and rub them together. Then work your hands through the mid-section to the ends of your hair. This will give your hair texture and make it pliable without shine and stickiness.
• You’re now ready to braid! Pull hair over one should, divide into three pieces, and begin to braid. While you’re braiding be sure to keep the braid somewhat tight. Finish your braid by tying it with a clear elastic.
• Now go down the braid with your fingers, gently pulling at the braid to make it look mussed. How much you pull at the braid will determine how messy it looks – complete this step until your desired level of messiness is achieved.
• Finish by spraying your braid with Air Control Hairspray (pictured below) to keep it perfectly messy all day!

Right now is the perfect time to get started on your path to success in the beauty industry as the job growth continues to go upward.  The U.S. Department of Labor states that all “Personal Appearance” jobs are projected to increase by 31% by 2018.  When compared to the total U.S. job increase projection of only 11% it’s clear why many people are seeing their future in the cosmetology.

• Shiny Red Lips
  This definitely calls for Nourish-Mint Rehydrating Lip Glaze in Cherry Blossom. It’s a bright, fun color that gives you awesome shine factor and your lips hydration. If you want the red lip sans the shine, we recommend Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color in Poppy. Both will add that special pop of color that a red lip is famous for!

• Dark Neutral Eye Shadow
  For this, we have the Petal Essence Eye Color Trio. How dark you want to go with your eye shadow all depends on personal preference and your skin tone. Luckily the Petal Essence Eye Color Trio gives you three options; if you decide to go lighter one night and a little darker the next, you don’t have to buy two different eye colors! It’s all in one. We have two trio colors that would work here, Gobi Sands and Golden Jasper. These both have a neutral, medium and dark color so you can change the hue to fit with any mood or occasion!Also, if you’re looking to have your intensify and extend the wear of your eye color, we recommend applying Color Options Eye Shadow Transformer to your lids before your eye color. It’s a lightweight cream that makes a big difference!

• Peachy Glow and Long Lashes
  For this we have Mosscara. A blend of moss and pure plant extract, this will coat your lashes with moisture and increase their thickness. Plus, it’s smudge-proof and flake-proof so you don’t have to worry about your eye make-up falling flat before the night is over!A peachy glow can be found by using our Inner Light Mineral Tinted Moisturizer and Uruku Bronzer in either Brazilian Sun or Amazonian. The moisturizer will reduce pore size and moisturize the skin while giving it a balanced, fresh look and the bronzer will add light and subtle shine. The perfect combo for a peachy glow!

• Dark & Dramatic Pink
  We’ve got some amazing dark pink hues in many different Aveda make-up products. For lips, Lip Shine in Amaranth will definitely bring the drama. The rich color and shine make it the perfect dark pink. If you’re not a fan of lip color with shine, go for Nourish-Mint Smoothing Lip Color in Vanadinite or Passion Flower. Both will give a pink punch! If eye color is where you want your pink drama, try Petal Essence Eye Color Trip in either Twilight or Violet Bloom.

• Dark Eyes & Frosty Skin
  The mysterious and sultry look of a dark eye can be accomplished with Petal Essence Eye Color Trio in Black Tulip, Petal Essence Eye Definer in Black Orchid and plenty of Mosscara. The contrast of frosty skin needs a base of the Mineral Tinted Moisturizer to smooth skin and even skin tone, and either Inner Light mineral loose or pressed powder. Both will give the skin a soft quality and exude the frosty look!
